Here's Wendy putting the finishing touches on her rendition of the Pemaquid Point Light in New Harbor, Maine. Her paintings have been displayed in many locations across the state and in other east coast regions as well. Her work has been featured in Brushings Magazine, in the Down East Magazine Gift Catalog, and she has been commissioned numerous times for one-of-a-kind creations. Her Maine lighthouse series is now available in dozens of fine shops up and down the Maine coast.

From earliest childhood, Wendy Susan (Richard) Tanner has been exploring and painting the beauty of Maine.  An archaeologist by vocation, she has spent many hours sifting through the rocky earth of these parts and beyond, and has found Maine soils – and the larger associated landscapes – to be particularly rich and inspiring artistically.  Maine Light Maps is the very joint effort of Wendy and her geologist husband, Ben (based on an original idea by Wendy’s dad, and fueled by the enthusiasm of both her smart parents and the initial success of the very first Maine Light Map -  the Hockamock Head Light on Swan's Island.)  Wendy and family enjoy the woods and cool waters of Upper Lead Mountain Pond near Aurora, Maine.  A tiny cabin with gas lights and a hand pump has proven the perfect place to paint (at least during the day!)  We truly and humbly hope you enjoy her work.
